The VE Day show at Duxford hosted a number of “Airshow moments”, alongside the debut of the Blenheim, there was also the long awaited debut display from the Historic Aircraft Collection’s Hawker Fury K5674.
The Fury flew post-restoration back in 2012 but hasn’t flown much since until early this year when flight testing began in earnest. Charlie Brown flew this classic bi-plane through a wonderful aerobatic routine over the Duxford skies with the Rolls-Royce Kestrel echoing around the airfield.
The Fury was joined by the Shuttleworth Collection’s Gloster Gladiator for a few passes in formation ahead of each display.
It was a privilege to see the Fury make its airshow debut and I look forward to seeing this classic shape grace the skies again next year.
